  • Address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources

  • Promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information

  • Develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools

It is critical for educators to set a good example for their students in the classroom. This includes the promotion of digital citizenship and responsibility. I have learned a lot about the legal use and respect of the use of information and technology during my time in this program. Some of the resources that assisted me in this understanding are listed below.

ThingLink

This ThingLink promotes and supports cultural understanding among students by allowing them to explore resources in a creative way. This particular example demonstrates how Christmas is celebrated in countries around the world. Students can use this ThingLink to develop a deeper understanding of other cultures by using this digital collaboration tool.

Pixlr Image Editing

I used the free web tool, Pixlr, to edit several images in lieu of Photoshop. This assignment really required me to be aware of the images that I selected. I only used a handful of images that were not originally mine, due to the fact that I did not want to use a copyrighted image. For this assignment, I used some stock images that were free, but I also gave credit for where I found the images in my reflection for the course. Learning to be so careful with the ethical use of digital information really prepared me to model and teach it in my own classroom.

Audio Editing Podcast

This podcast was created as an alternate method of instruction that addresses the needs of a diverse group of learners. If students are not able to be in class for a lecture or lesson, they may listen to the podcast, which promotes a more learner-centered approach to instruction.

ISD Technology Plan

This technology plan is the epitome of promoting and modeling digital etiquette and responsible social interactions with the use of technology and information. It also incorporates the safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology. I learned a significant amount about digital citizenship and responsibility while writing this technology plan, and I feel much more prepared to teach it effectively and model it in my own instructional practices now. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

In the future, I will continue to model and teach digital citizenship and ethical practices with the use of digital information and technology to my students. I will also strive to further my cultural understanding by engaging with other educators from around the world by using digital communication tools. Should I ever have to write another technology plan, I feel that I have a substantial amount of knowledge regarding digital citizenship that I can apply to it. I will also stress the importance of the ethical and legal use of others’ intellectual property and information to my students. Additionally, I will make sure to practice digital etiquette myself in the things that I create and compose.
